Wedding
Speeches
For those who are requested to deliver wedding speeches,
it is a huge honor just to be asked. It enables you to tell everyone
including the couple, their friends, and their family just how much
the two of them really mean to you.

Wedding
Speech

Saying how you feel out loud can be incredibly nerve wracking.
But, a successful wedding speech is often remembered for years to
come.
It is not every day that you get to give a speech at a wedding,
so if you are offered this chance, be sure to make the very most
of it.
It used to be that only the mother and father of the bride, the
best man, and the groom were given the opportunity to speak at a
wedding. Nowadays, however, things have opened up a bit. It is normal
for the bride, the groom's mother and father, as well as the maid
of honor to speak at a wedding.
Whatever your role in the upcoming wedding, if you are given the
chance to speak, keep in mind that a wedding speech is basically
a long toast. So, the same sentiments that are typically expressed
in wedding toasts should also form the basis of the wedding speech.
The wedding speech does take things one step further, however,
in the sense that it gives the speaker a chance to articulate his
or her personal feelings and relationship with the bride and groom.
While wedding toasts give the celebrants a chance for reflection,
the wedding speech addresses the emotional moment that arises when
a man and a woman come together in holy matrimony.
The wedding speech should therefore convey all the common emotions
felt by the friends and family on that very special day, including
love, pride, happiness, hope, and a feeling of unity among all the
participants in the wedding ceremony and celebration.
Therefore, it is good to think about all these things when you
are writing your wedding speech. Think about how the father feels
on this special day, giving the hand of his little girl away. Think
about the grandparents' feelings and how life will seem to have
come full circle for them. But, finally, do not fail to think about
the couple's own feelings on that day and how joyful and hopeful
they must be in starting a new life together.
The wedding speech also allows the speaker to send thanks to all
those who made the wedding day a reality. Organizing a wedding can
be hard work. Do not forget to thank everyone involved, including
the parents for their financial contributions, as well as the hard
work of the rest of the party.
Depending on the role you are playing at the party, there are traditional
guidelines to follow. The bride's father typically says a few words
of welcome to the parents of the groom. The best man usually gives
a light-hearted, humorous speech. And, the bridegroom should be
sure to mention any members of the family who could not attend the
wedding owing to illness or other causes.
With these simple tips, the wedding speeches at one's reception
will be something to be remembered by all.
